Year 2010 Resolution

Happy New Year to everyone.

My year 2009 resolutions are as below

Concentrating on saving and cut the unnecessary things.No more travelling trip and reduced the shopping budget. Achievement = 80%
Don't ever give lazy as an excuse on certain thing. Always lazy. Achievement = 20%
Try not to be self-center and always take care of other. Still shooting people in front of them. Shooting and shooting until they asked me to stop with angry. Achievement = 10%

OMG. The results are so bad. This year resolutions are as below:

Saving and indulge myself at the same time. Don't so be miserly to myself. Must wear and eat well. That's mean i need to increase my salary. The only way to do is ...........(everyone should know it lah)
Every word comes out from my mouth should think twice before i speak it out. I would like to applogize to those who i had hurt in year 2009.
Try to occupy my weekend with valuable and good quality activities, such as being volunteer, hiking, etc. Meet more new friends to expand my social networking. Don't be shame to everyone.

Wishing everyone dreams come true and only good things come to your door.

Jan - Making some biscuits for celebrating Chinese New Year.

Mar - Nothing....

Apr - Seconded to ExxonMobil for Equipment List Analyser.

Mei - Still at ExxonMobil. My housemate's Ley Kein married to my another housemate Kee Loong.It's very tired of being her sister.

Jun - Still at ExxonMobil and nothing happen. I was thinking of buying a new car.
I was started to do my future home location survey.

July - I joined KL Marathon that orgarnised by Standard Chartered Bank.
I went to Saga Hill with Ley Kein's colleagues.

Aug - Backed to office.

Sep - I went to Gua Tempurung with UM's coursemates.
Again rebuilt friendship by having dinner at USJ with UM's coursemates after long time.

Oct - I went to DNV company trip at Lumut by UM's coursemates invitation.
I went to Mee Shun's wedding dinner.

Nov - Extremely strong feeling want to own a car. Finally bought Myvi for my transport.
I subscribed celebrity fitness member for one year at Wangsa Walk Mall.
Saying "sayonana" to Liying Yoga Center after two years of joining.
First time for myself having a long journey drive from KL to Seremban.
Thanks to my housemate and my mother of volunteering to teach me on driving.
Seconded to SBM Malaysis for safety engineer.
I went back to my hometown Temerloh for attending my best friend's wedding dinner. I haven't went back since the election in 2007.
Again, budgeted genting trip with my UM's coursemates.

Dec - Still at SBM for safety engineer.
I went to Frim since three years ago with my colleagues.
I was a volunteer for OKU convoy.

I will start to write my new year resolution soon.

Gua Tempurung 09

Four of us - Edmund Yoong, Yeat Fiou, Yee Chieh, and I departed from Subang to Gua Tempurung where is located in Lembah Tempurung near Gopeng, Perak by Edmund's car. First of most, I would like to say thousand thanks to our driver, Edmund Yoong who scarified his precious time on driving along the most boring and long journey.

We reached there around 0900 morning. There are four packages for Gua Tempurung tour - Golden Flowstone, Top of the world, Top of the world & short river adventure, and Grand tour.

We joined the grand tour that needs 3 and 1/2 hour to finish the tour.

Advice on this trip:

Safety helmet must wear along the tour even relevant party does not mention it. My head was accidentally hit to the volvano-like rock when I climbed through the underground river.
Sport shoes must having a strong shoes base that can sustain the wet condition. I saw many shoes base bodies left in the cavern.

We stayed at Excelsior Hotel where in Ipol town after the Gua Tempurung tour.

Chinese New Year Biscuit

Chinese New Year is coming soon.
In conjuction with Chinese New Year (CNY), Carrefour has promotion on certain items such as arrow head (i don't know the english term, but "芽菇 in chinese term) that only RM 1.88 per kg. I bought one bag for preparing CNY biscuit.

Final chapter - Bangkok trip on 15th Dec 2008

Time is flied. It's time to go back home.
Basically my target on this trip have been achieved - clothes and travelling.
I quite confirmed that i wouldn't visit Bangkok next following years due to unconstant politic.

Chapter 3 - Bangkok trip on 13rd Dec 2008

Second day itinerary is visiting Grand Palace and Wat Arun where located near Grand Palace. This package is very valueable that charged us 500 baht that includes private guide and transportation but excludes the entrance fee. We didn't visit Wat Pho where quite also near Grand Palace due to time constrains.

Jajujak Market (JJ Market) is afternoon program which focussing on shopping for our CNY outfits.

Fabulous breakfast for our first morning in Bangkok city. Basically, this type of breakfast is not my cup of tea. However, watermelon is my favour that i can finish whole even i already full. hehe....

Below are the tips on shopping at JJ market:

Bring your T-shirt for measuring the size due to different size standard found in Thailand.
Buy pant for testing to ensure your size and then rebuy it on second day
Don't believe on the size label (S,M,L) because the quality control is very bad. It can be mis-label the size.

Chapter 2 - Bangkok First Day on 12nd Dec 2008

My first day itinerary in Capital city of Thailand is as follow:

China Town at noon and praying at 4-faced Buddha (San Phra Phrom) where near Siam Square and at the same time shopping at Siam Paragon, Central World Plaza, Siam Square at night.

Chapter 1 - Bangkok trip plan

Thailand protestors closed the International Airport on 26th Nov 2008 signs a disaster for me. I already bought a ticket to Bangkok on 12nd Dec for shopping and holiday. All my friends advised me of not going there for safety reasons. Should I cancel or stick to plan after that event?

I always believe that lucky star always stand by me. The Bangkok International Airport finally opened on 8^th Dec 2008. All the obstacles to Bangkok trip finally collapsed - my friend finally got approval from their parent and the latest news in Bangkok seems very peaceful and quiet.

After long discussion among my trip partners on 10th Dec 2008, final and firm conculsion had been came out of sticking to original plan to Bangkok. Yeah! Bangkok, we are coming soon.

RSCE-SOMChE 2008 in Kuala Lumpur

On 2nd-3rd Dec 2008, 15th Regional Symposium on Chemical Engineering (RSCE) will be held at Impiana Hotel & Spa, Kula Lumpur. I was requested by my mentor to participate in this event.

At the beginning, one of my colleagues will be my partner to joint this event as a poster presentation participant. The topic of poster presentation is about the job done by that colleague. I simply accepted this request as I can fully depend on that fellow. I think the god want to punish me because that fellow suddently called back by his scholarship and then he was resigned.

I had no choice to say not to my supervisor even I totally not really understand that project. I sacrificed my Deepavali holiday for preparing technical paper for that event. The organizer informed me that I can switch to presentation but I rejected it as I was not really involved in that project.

I think I was very blur on this matter. I totally don't know what RSCE is and how grand they are. I simply submited that technical paper without fill in any registration form and payment. Two week before, I started to prepare poster based on provided size from their website and send to printer shop for printing. The poster size is very big ( 100 cm W x 150 cm H) and costs me RM 150. Normally, I always give an answer of don't know when other asked me about this exhibition.

The poster was just simply printed before getting reviewed and acceptanced by organizer. How blur I am! One week before that event, they informed me that my paper has been reviewed and accepted to be published in their conference proceedings. Bad news is the poster size has been changed to 118.9 cm high x89.1 cm wide in portrait orientation.

Today, I just received email from them about changing the new size of poster (60.96 cm wide x 91.44 cm high). Oh my god! My poster will be special on that day because of the bigger size than other participants. I want to drill a hole to hide myself.

I start to surf internet to find more details of RSCE and find out that this event is grand. RM 750 needs to be paid for Malaysia Industrial participants. No wonder my managing director asked me when I should pay the registration fee. I just simply said i will pay it on the spot.

Actually, this is my second time of involving myself in poster presentation. I still remembered my first poster presentation was with my coursemate, Yee Chieh, in final year of university. Yee Chieh, I would like to say thank you very much on helping me on Q & A session.

My poster presentation was scheduled on 2nd Dec at 10.30 am to 11.00 am. You can visit and support me If you are near Impiana Hotel and free.

This weekend I will suffer on preparing the presentation script. If you were know me well, you will understand that Why I will get suffer. For you info, I have difficulty in pronunciation. I can't pronounce certain words properly no matter n time of hearing and practising. That causes me can't speak fluently english. Besides, one of the stepping-stone is my english. My english is super bad.

I wish everything will be fine on that day and I can answer any questions. Wish me luck.

I went to Lawit Platform, including two satellite Platforms - Bintang A and B for data gathering. These videos were taken during we were transferring from Lawit Platform to boat by basket to Bintang B Platform. One of the personnel told me that we were the first ladies went to satellite Platforms. No doubt we were the only two ladies utilized that basket. Cool..........

KK trip day 6 - rafting in Kiulu River

There are two rivers in Sabah for white water rafting, Padas and Kiulu river. Since our trip has three girls and one guy. The Kiulu River is suited to us because it is certified as grade 1 and grade 2 based on international white water rafting grading system.These grades are suitable for beginners. Kiulu River is located on the northeastern part of Sabah, recognized as being the second most beautiful village in Malaysia.

A professional raft guide will give a safety briefing, demonstration rafting techniques and proper handling of rafting equipment before rafting commences.

That day was a good weather for rafting. The river level was high hence the trip covers up to 15km of journey that took 1 1/2 hours to reach the ending point. We having our delicious lunch at end point station.

I was so excited because this was my first time. I strongly recommended white water rafting in Sabah to everyone. If i have a second change to Sabah, i think i will select Padas river for rafting.

My both legs got sunburn due to my laziness to put sun block on my legs.

A rental "kancil" car was driven by Kok Wah for city traveling. We went to 1Borneo (Sabah Mid Valley), the first and biggest lifestyle hypermall in Sabah.

I would recommend Sapi Island rather than Manukan Island. Manukan Island has been polluted and the beach is fulled with dead corals. No much fish can see during the snorkel diving. Besides, Sapi Island underwater view is more beautiful than Manukan Island.

KK trip day 4 - Poring hot spring station and anjung Aru

After taking good sleep yesterday at Poring Hot Spring Station, we desired to dunk our pain leg into natural hot spring to release tiredness after climbing.

Yeah! Hot Spring, we are coming.

A bit disappointed by the hot spring facilities. Based on my mindset, I thought the natural hot spring was already there and no such of tank and water pipe for filling. I was so regretted that I didn’t put some effort on doing some research for this trip. However, our feeling wouldn’t spoil by these facilities. Time had been wasted on filling the tank full and hence cancelled the next schedule of canopy walk.

Climbing Mountain Kinabalu Day 2

14th July 2008

4.00pm to 6.00 pm

The temperature of 9.8 degree C was recorded when I reached to Laban Rata Resthouse. I didn’t feel the cold weather after taking bath. My whole body was shaking due to cold condition and this was my first time to experience such cold weather. Lucky, winter coat that can withstand temperature of up to 8 degree C have been brought before this trip. Many thanks to my co-worker, who is willing to borrow his glove. The dinner buffet was started at 6.00 p.m to 7.30 p.m and after that will totally close for early breakfast preparation, which is starts at 1.00 a.m to 2.00 a.m.

6.00 p.m to 7.30 p.m

We were having luxury dinner buffet at canteen. I discovered that Laban Rata Resthouse was flooded by foreigners. I was wonder how come they can very easily to climb the mountain. My friend told me that may be they have long leg and frequently exercise.

15th July 2008
8.00 p.m to 2.00 p.m

We have had to sleep earlier for tomorrow climbing. I was started to feel headache (due to altitude sickness) and running nose. In fact, there is not running nose while my nose is blocking by nasal mucus. Hence, I only can use mouth for breathing. I tried to suck out the nasal mucus but failed to do this. I want to say apologize to my roommates because of the noisy sound as a result of struggling to suck out the nasal mucus. The heater which is placed in our room was started function at 8 p.m.

After a while, our room was warmed but the room environment became mugginess due to the bad ventilation. Thus, our room’s door was kept open for air circulation and shut downed that heater. I can’t sleep well and feel the altitude sickness became seriously.

15th July 2008
2.45 a.m

We departed at 2.45 a.m. One of my friends already gave up climbing the summit. Hence, only 3 of us were aimed to go there. Our guide needed to take care of us. We were well-equipped with head touch light, hat, coat, etc. The outdoor temperature of 7.4 degree C was recorded. The outdoor condition was very dark and we needed to pay high attention on the craggedness road. When I climbed more and more road, I felt very difficult to breathe due to lack of oxygen. I almost took a short break for every 10 steps.

5.51 a.m

Our guide really can’t to stand our speed. Hence, he taught us the easiest and fastest way to climb the mountain. Since our speed were very slow (we were the last person on that day), we were unable to watch the sunrise at summit on time. However, I never gave up for getting to summit. My aim was reached to summit and took some photos for future memory.

I wanted to stop half way due to my body already achieved maximum limit. However, this thinking already out because RM300 already paid for this trip. Probability this is my first and last time to climb the mountain. Besides, I also promised to co-workers that I will get the color certificate; I wouldn't back to office unless I obtained the certificate.

I don't know how to describe my feeling. I was so happy that I finally made it. My elbows of leg and thighs were started to feel pain. The painfulness was as a result of putting so much pressure or break during climb down the ramp. After I complained my painfulness, my guide taught me how to reduce the pressure by walking like snake.

8.53 a.m

It’s time for us to back to rest house to having breakfast.

9.30 p.m to 4.00 p.m

After having breakfast, we checked out at 9.30 a.m and started our journey to climb down the mountain. Our next station was Hot Poring, located 3 hours from Kinabalu park. Around 11.00 a.m, the sky was slightly turned to dark. Initially, the small rain was started and then we wear the rain coat. I think around 1.00 p.m, the small rain was turned to downpour. The route became more slip, thus I took more time to climb down.

At 4.00 p.m, the rain hasn't stopped yet. I felt pity to those who just wanted to climb the mountain. We were very luck because the downpour happened after we climbed down the mountain. In general, it is not allow to climb to mountain summit when raining and the road condition is wet. I used my last energy to reach Timpohon Gate, our first check point.

4.51 p.m

Finally I was certificated by Kinabalu Park. We rented a van to our next station of Hot Poring. After 3 hours journey, we were very tired and lazy to enjoy the hot poring.

14th July 2008

We waked up 6 a.m and take a van to Kinabalu Park for Mountain Kinabalu climbing. After 2 hours journey, we finally reached Kinabalu Park.

8.00 a.m

We were at Sutera Sanctuary Lodges for registration of Mountain Kinabalu climbing.

Four of us were fully prepared to Mountain Kinabalu.

This is the card for very check point stations registration.

This is the MT. Kinabalu summit trail. Our today target was 6km and then take a short break at Laban Rata Resthouse.

9.00 a.m
Our first check point was Timpohon Gate. They are two first check points, Timpohon Gate and Mesilau Gate, each 6 km and 8 km respectively to Laban Rata Resthouse. We selected the shortest journey for our climbing. Of course, we are not well trained for this climbing.

I was at Timpohon Gate, well equipped with climbing utilities. The stick costs me RM 3.00.

This is little waterfall, located near from Timpohon Gate.

9.30 a.m

We already walked 1 km. We took a short break at Kandis Shelter.

Were were so excited because only spent half an hour to reach 1 km. Not bad.

10.00 a.m

It is so simple to reach furthe 0.5 km within 1/2 hour.

10.30 a.m

We already walked 2 km. I didn't felt any pain and tired at all. I was so glad that I attend yoga classes to improve my stamina. Actually, our progress was very slow because many climbers take over us. Our objective is reaching Laban Rata Resthouse by 6p.m. We didn't mind how long we take to, but as long as we reach there.

11.00 a.m

Finally 2 km. Having light lunch at Lowii Shelter and drinked untreated water.

12.00 p.m

A bit tiring due to the uphill road. However, i felt happy because left 2.5 km to resthouse. Fighting, Fighting, Fighting!

1.00 p.m

Shocked me. I took 1 hour to walk only 0.5 km. I can't believe it. The journey became more and more difficult.

The fog condition became serious.

The uphill road became more challenging. However, it's valueable for climbing. More further climbing, the view will more beautiful.

1.45 p.m

Only remaining 1.5 km to resthouse.

2.00 p.m

The weather became very cold. All my luggage is not with me now.Luckily, my body still warm in exercise condition.

2.30 p.m

Only 1 km to resthouse. I was started to think of "Why i paid money for suffering myself". I felt that this journey was very long and wondered when i can reach there.

3.25 p.m

I don't know how to describe my feeling. My hope was only 0.5km and then i can take a rest.

3.50 p.m

A small rain was started and we needed to wear rain coat.

4.00 p.m

Finally, Laban Rata Resthouse was just in front of me. I wanted to cry because finally i achieved today's objective. The next objective was climbing to mountain summit tommorrow.

Yee Chieh and I reached resthouse at 4p.m. My another two friends reached there at 5 p.m. This is the best achievement i have been obtained in my life. I never walked and climbed 6 km within 7 hours without any tiring. If last time, my leg will start to shake and pain, my body will give me a signal to stop for any further. Although this is not a good record for other, but this is good enought for me. Congratulation to myself.

Gastroenteritis

Gastroenteritis or stomach flu has been bothered me since last week. I felt that want to vomit but nothing is come out except gas from my mouth. Besides, I lost my appetite due to crampy abdominal pain, nausea without vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms were started when I came back from Sabah Trip. The fist symptom I have is fever and nausea and I already went to seek doctor’s advices. Doctor gave me some Panadol and stomach pain killer. Doctor only concluded that fever at that time. I fully believed whatever doctor saying. My condition is much better after having good rest.

I only recovered from fever but still having crampy abdominal pain and nausea without vomiting. I have experienced such conditions when I was form-one student. During that time, I kept vomiting that resulted me dehydration. I totally can’t take any fluids by mouth because of vomiting and felt much suffered that time.

Since I have this experience, I felt me having gastroenteritis again. I went to seek doctor again and briefly described my condition to him. He suspected me having gastroenteritis.

In general, gastroenteritis was caused by viruses and bacteria, either in urethra or intestines. It will natural recover if viruses or bacteria found in intestines. Meanwhile, it would not recover if it in urethra. For the safety purpose, I was performed the urine test to ensure that no viruses or bacteria in my urethra. That test was gave the optimum result and concluded that only my intestines affected by viruses or bacterial. Doctor advised me don’t consume milk-food, fry food, and oily food in order to reduce the stomach and intestines burden. Besides, I also need to drink more vitagen or yakult but it will increase the toilet frequency as a consequence of killing the bacteria or viruses.

I felt so glad because this time only felt un-comfortable on stomach, no vomiting, and a little bit of diarrhea. Lucky, this time doesn’t cause me dehydration and still can eat whatever I want. I need to seek doctor again to take antibiotic if my condition being worst within following five days. Hence, I will start to control my diet and hopefully this ill will recover naturally.

Half day seminar on "Drilling Engineering Overview"

I attend another talk, organized by IEM and the course name is "Drilling Engineer Overview" at Crystal Crown Hotel. The agenda for this course is background of the drilling, drilling engineer overview on how to drill, how much does it cost for drilling, and their challenges. Besides, this course taught the overview of directional drilling, casing design, cement design, and drilling fluid design.

In General, drilling is the act of making hole to provide conduit for the hydrocarbon to free flow from the reservoir to surface. The speaker talked about the background of drilling and the type of drilling rigs. This is the first time I heard about the Tender Assisted Platform Rig.

There are two types of well, Development well and Exploration/Appraisal well. The well life cycle stages consist of well construction (Design stages), implementation, analysis and improvement.

It is impossible for all the wells having vertical drilling. The reasons for having directional drilling are multiple wells (optimum location for platform), drilling in inaccessible location, drilling through faults, controlling a vertical well, sidetrack wells, salt dome and relief well (safety issue).

Cement is also one of the drilling engineer work scopes. Cement is used for isolating the formation fluids, holding casing in place, and capable of perforation to be done on the casing. Lots of cementing laboratory tests need to be done in order to meet certain objectives and requirements.

As a conclusion, drilling engineer is capable of well design, casing design, directional drilling, cement design, and drilling fluids design. They work as team work with reservoir engineers, geologists, etc.

Kota Kinabalu City tour day 1 (13-07-08)

I went to Kota Kinabalu with my coursemates for 7 days and 6 nights by Air Asia flight (AK5100) at 1.45pm on 13rd July 2008. I booked this air ticket during the promotion period and only costs me RM 162. This is the first time my footprint steps on the land below the wind (Kota Kinabalu). I was so excited and look forward for this trip. Yeah! Kota Kinabalu, I am coming.

Our accommodation at Kota Kinabalu city for 4 days at back packer gueshouse, named "The Beach Lodge" where located at Jalan Pantai which near the Milimewa market and summer lodge. It's only costs me RM 20 per bed per night (total RM 80 for 4 nights). This guesthouse location is very strategic and unit, but it located at 4th floor and without lift facility. That means you need to carry your heavy luggage to your room. The most headachy thing is you must climb up to 4th floor even your leg are very ached after climbing Kota Kinabalu (KK) Mountain. Oh my god! i can't imagine this. Hence, my advice is don't ever select guesthouse without lift facility if your main purpose to Sabak is for climbing KK mountain. The photo above is the room condition for that guesthouse.

We went out from guesthouse and "cari cari ambil gambar". There are lots of landmarks in Kota Kinabalu, such as Tugu Peringatan Malaysia, memorandun and Dewan Bandaraya KK, etc.

After taking photo, we went to "cari cari makan". Philipino Market is quite near from our place, so we decided to try the local food and fresh seafood (baked fishes) there. I have been uploaded some photos to Kota Kinabalu city day 1 album, you can take a look. The evening landscape at jetty where near the Philipino market is very scenic but there has strong fishy taste. The noodle sold there tastes delicious and ABC (air batu campur) as well.

This is the first gathering photo was taken by tourist from Indonesia. We slept very early tonight for tomorrow climbing KK mountain preparation. KK mountain, I am coming.

We waked up early for taking photo at Kalim Beach where just located near from our hotel. The first photo has been used as my comapny pc wallpaper.

These photos were taken from hotel's swimming pool. It's a time to say good bye to Phuket. I wish I can come back again. In essence, Phuket is a good place for relaxation and foreigner's heaven.

Company trip at Phuket Island Day 2

After having luxuriously breakfast at hotel, we went to watch monkey show. I felt sad to monkey because his freedom was limited because utilized by human being as a money-maker.

The next destination after the monkey show is shooting range. We need to pay the bullet cost for shooting. That gun in the photo is AK-47.

This is the best score from a new player.

We proceeded to Wat Chalong. The things sold here is quite cheap. Most of us brought a lots souvenirs to relatives and friends. The only thing that disappointed me is only 20 minutes for us for this station. Maybe the tour guide can't obtain any commision from this Wat Chalong. However, I didn't lost anything because I have been visited last year.

After that, we visited cashew nut factory. This machine was used to remove the cashew nut from its shell. A lot of cashew nut was brought as a souvenirs to my friends and some as my snacks. HAHA....

We went to honey shop as well. All the functions of honey and honey pollen were introduced through this visiting. The saleman teach you how to distinguish the real honey and false honey.
Actualy, this is my second time to visit this shop and he repeated same things as well.

After tiring half day trip, we went to restaurant to having our lunch. The sea view is not bad but the food price is quite expensive. This was my first time to try the green curry which is one of the famoust Thailand food. You must try this food when you are in Thailand. The tom yam soup here has been modified to japanese, taiwan, western contry's taste. Hence, it is better to taste the original tom yam soup in Bangkok (Capital of Thailand).

I don't think gems store is one of the attractive place to go in Phuket. I don't have any interest on jewelry and felt bored there.

Do you dare to try bamboo worm?

Our half day trip seems like one day trip. We supposed to watch the sunset at patung peach but the time is not allowed us to do this. Hence we sacrified this and go for Thai massage. The Thai massage costs everyone 500 baht for two hours. You must go there for Thai massage because all the massagists are certificated. I forgot where this shop located is. The name of this shop is "Patong Top". You must ask local agent to bring you there when next time in Phuket.

Bang La road again. We havind dinner at this restaurant and ordered green curry and tom yam soup. The green curry taste better than afternoon one. I have drank 3 coconut juices in a day.

After loitering, we went back to hotel by Tuk Tuk.
This phuket trip has impressed me that thailanders having sweat mouth due to eating too much of sugar. Almost all the foods and drinks are sweat like hell. This trip actually is a breakthrough for POYRY KL company because this is the first time having oversea trip. I wish our company can maintain it for next year for the sake of myself go to oversea. HAHA.....

Company trip at Phuket Island Day 1

My company's weekend away fall on 4-6th July at Phuket Island in Thailand. We were staying at Phuket Patong Lodge where located on Kalim beach at north Patong.

My mother was came with me to this trip. This photo was took in Phuket Airport once we arrived to Phuket.

The borad is wrote in Central Thai(Siamese) and English.

This is royal Thai Customs for every visitors.

After completing check-in, we were waiting our tour guide (Wilson) and then heading to our destination (Phuket Patong Lodge Hotel) by bus.

This is my room (photo in left hand side was sourced from internet), provides private balcony (but with construction view, photo in right hand side) ,satellite TV channels (all channels are spoken in siamene,except CNN and Rusia Today are spoken in English).

We having out group buffet dinner at the Metropole Hotel, located at Phuket town. Wilson said that there are 43 kinds of food available. Sincerely, I counted and found out the food choices are less than 43 types. It's a bit disappointed on the food. Besides, the food is not in halar. Hence muslims can't enjoy their food.

We went to Bang LA Road and night market for shopping after the dinner. We haven't had chance to taste the seafood. However, we enjoyed the happy hour atmosphere along the Bang La Road.

This is Tuk Tuk which having taxi function and costs 200 baht per trip. We were returned to hotel by this transport.

Annual Planning meeting 2008 at Hotel Equatorial

Our company have a "Annual Planning meeting 2008" at Hotel Equatorial last Friday. This was my third time of attending planning meeting since I joined POYRY Energy KL.

In essence, there is free seated, but somehow we all sit according to respective levels; leadership team, senior team and junior team. Is it amazing?

This year was chaird by our new MD, Mr. Johan Samad. He presented our future and potential oil and gas business in Malaysia.

Yeah! We have our refreshment even with limited choices.

After ice breaking, we proceed to next session of " let say POYRY Energy KL is a guy. How does it look like in you mind?" Above photos were the outcome for each teams, leadership, senior, and junior team (from left to right).

Based on view of leadership team, our company is like a athlete and preprates to run forward to strong, focus, striving, friendly and openness, and quality status. If you look with your eagled-eye, you will find out that athlene is wearing the branded item such a Nike shoe, Adidas pant, and Rolex watch. Only leadership team can think of this kind of things. HAHA......

From the points of senior team, our company somehow looks like a missionary, with big brain, big ears and many small feet. The big brain is able to think and big ears is capable of obtaining news from outside. The many feets represents many Graduate Process Engineers in company. The thin body is able to expand and the shirt can sustain that expansion. The muscles on the stomach is stands for quality work done by company. Not bad.....

The third drawing is the output from my view (junior site). Our company looks like having big head, very thin body and big feet. That body shape is represents our current organisation chart, with little senior engineer and process engineer but with heavy working load for them.

Then we proceed to "Building castle in the air". The third photo is our product. Does it look like Taiwan IOI building. HAHA!!!!!!!! Our Builted castle is the strongest among them. This is what I think.

About 7.15pm, we finally finished the planning meeting. Family photo has been took.

Another colleague has been transfered to Abu Dhabi . I wish her all the best and can adapt well there. I quite sad when I heard this news. However, I can't stop her from getting bright future. Actually, We shared a good memory by involving same projects, e.g., Dialog, Nippon Oil, etc.

Our company had a farewell party for her at Al-Marjan restaurant at KLCC last two weeks. That was my first and last time to try and test arabic food I think. The arabic food is not suit my taste at all. I'm not mean arabic food is the worst but totally is not my choice. Many thanks to her of getting this chance to try new things. Wish you all the best.

Computer virus

My computer was affected by virus last week. I was tried to format my pc but still can't to get rid of this problem. After formating and installing the new window, my pc operating system did not allow to install whatever software. At first, I thought my pc mother boat was spoiled because built in network card can not work properly. I was very fed up and went to seek help from friends. They replied me that it is impossible to enter your window if mother boat was broken down.

Then, I tried to search online info to solve my pc problem. I have done whatever I can but still can't to solve this problem. One of the answers from internet is your pc was affected by virus that caused your pc failed to install any programs.

Since my window failed to install any programs, I tried to download the anti-virus software from internet by run it instead of download it. Lucky, I managed to install anti-virus and then performed computer scan to detect and heal the virus. Pc window's performance was back to normal as a result of computer scanning.

I was so great because my computer is working properly. Now I can watch movies and surf line as usual. I can't imagine the life without internet and movie.

I just lost my UOA card at somewhere near the KLCC LRT entrance gate this morning. How come i was so careless?

I used to put my touch n go and UOA card together with a same card holder and then hang it around my neck. Today, I took out my touch n go card for topping up my transportation card. Maybe i felt so bored and found out my card holder was dirty because of dust. Hence, i used the touch n go top up receipt as a tissue paper to clean it. I don't know some how my UOA card was gone.

I just realised it within less than 1 minute and i just walked a very short distance from incident place (less than 5 m). I directly turned back to find my card along that short distance but some how i can't find it. I was so disappointed and upset of this incident.

Thus, i need to pay company RM 50 for replacing my card. For the time being, i need to register to counter before i can go to my office. SHITT !!!!!!!

Another HYSYS training course for two days in SIngapore. I already went twice to Singapore for different HYSYS training in this year; HYSYS advance and HYSYS dynamic. I was so proud of completed all the HYSYS course within one year.

I was learnt a new things from this course. I wish I can apply these skills on my future job/project.

I went to Bugis Junction and Orchard Road for shooping as usual. A bit amaging, I have nothing to buy after whole day shopping.

Drilling and completion fluid

Another talk on drilling and completion fluid, conducted by IEM this Saturday morning. Diagram 1 represents the drill rig. Drilling engineer can be said as mud engineer because one of their duties is to maintain a density of mud in the hole in order to counter the natural pressures of fluid and gasses that might otherwise release into the well hole.

Completion fluid is a complex mixture of chemical and additives which used to serve various function driiling the hole. This fluid is like mud that helping to remove the drilled cuttings from the hole. In general, there are 2 types of drilling fluid - Oil based mud and water based mud. Diagram 2 indicates the drilling fluid classification.

Presence of drilling mud is important to maintain borehole stability, minimise loss of fluid to the formation, control formation pressure, lubricate the drill string, suspend solids under static condition , remove drilled cutting from the hole, and keep the bit cool .

The mud is pumpped to the well and then combination of cuttings and mud are sent to cleaning process for removing the sands and cuttings from mud. Several testings are required to determined the physical and chemical properties of fluid. These testing are viscocity, gel strength, sand, pH, methylene Blue Capacity, lubricity, particle size distribution, solid analysis, shale inhibition, electrical stablity, anilline point test , and aromatic content. There are two types of drilling hole - openhole and cased hole. Filter cake is like casing for openhole.

Hepatitis A vacination

I was did a blood test for determination of Hepatitis A and B antibiotic last friday. The test result was came out and it indicated my Hepatitis B antibiotic is still above the minimum level (> 100 mg/l) since i have done a 4 times of injections. However, my body does not has antibiotic for Hepatitic A. In general, two doses of vaccines are required to complete your immunity against Hepatitis A. Today, I get a first dose of vaccinated against Hepatitis A.

Hepatitic A is a highly contagious inflammatory disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). The virus is found in the stools of people infected with HAV. An infection is usually acquired by the faecal-oral route, either through person to person contact or ingestion of contaminated food and water.

The nurse advised me swing the hand which is get vaccine injection whole day for better vaccine ciculation because it will reduce the painness due to vaccine injection. So, I need attend yoga class today for exercise. My next vaccine injection is after six months from my first dose vaccine injection.

Upstream activities in oil and gas industry

In general, there are three main activities in oil and gas industry, which are upstream, mid-stream and downstream activities. I would like to focus on upstream activity because I just attended this talk which was conducted by IEM.

Upstream activities are involve finding the new field, drilling the hydrocarbons from reservoirs, processing these hydrocarbons into gas, condensate, and oil. These produced gas, condensate and oil are become refinery raw materials for transforming to final output , such as LPG and diesel, or raw materials for plastic industry. The mid-stream phase is a transition from upstream to downstream. The downstream activities are involve refining the produced gas, condensate, and oil from upstream activities. The life cycle of upstream activities is Exploration, Appraisal, Development, Production, and Abandonment phases (refers to above diagram 1).

Exploration activities are aimed to finding the new volume of hydrocarbons, thus replacing the volumes being produced. Nowaday, most of the giant fields have been discovered. Hence, the trend currently is most likely finding the small, more complex and difficult fields [ultra deep water, rough terrain, etc] that needs unconventional methods to explore it. Competition for natural resources has driven the exploration and production in harsh, remote and even hostile locations, where even the simplest of logistical tasks can be difficult and costly. And, as the environment grows more diverse and unforgiving and the challenges more complex, skilled human resources are aging and growing scarce [short of engineers, geologists, and scientists]. Seismic Method is one of the exploration techniques that allows mapping of the geological structures and helps determine locations and relative sizes of oil and gas reserves beneath the surface in a specified area.

The next phase is appraisal phase of drilling once exploration drilling has encountered the presence of oil or gas. The main appraisal tools are drilling wells, shooting 2D/3D seismic surveys, and re-processing of old seismic data. During this process, delineation wells are drilled to defined the extent of reserves and may take several years to complete it. Appraisal phase is vital to determine either being proceeded with development phase or being carried out more detail appraisal program that will delay the first oil and hence improving the overall profitability. Sometimes, abandont of field is being considered if no economically recoverable reserves are foreseen or having negative cash flow. The appraisal phase is normally involves feasibility study and field development study.

After being confirmed the field has potentialy positive cash flow through exploration and appraisal phase, the development phase will start to implement. The development planning is involves estimation of recovery factor, prodution profile, field decline rate, etc. Detail design of facilities, procurement of the material of construction, fabrication of the facilities, and commissioning of all plant and equipment are implemented in this stage.

After building whole the facilities, the next phase is production phase. The oil or gas is starts to produced to recover the investment cost [ exploration, appraisal, and development cost]. The typical production life cycle can be referred from diagram 2. A new technology or enhanced recovery method will be applied at decline phase to increase the production rate for obtaining positive cash flow prior abandon the fields.

The last phase is abandonment phase which occurs when economic life time of a project terminates as soon as its cash flow turns permanently negative. Two methos are being considered before the abandonment the fields, which are reducing the operating cost or increasing the production rate by introducing the new technology [ CO2 injection or develop new field which located nearby the existing facilities].

Let me gives you a simple example of looking a new job for summarising the upstream activities in oil and gas industry. The exploration phase is preparing resumes, sending it to companies, and waiting responses from companies. You can send your resumes by email, post, etc. The Seismic method is like a method you used for applying new job. The appraisal phase is how you evaluate the company and your future if working at that company, salary and other factors. The company side will evaluate your capability. Then company will give you an offer letter once you pass all the tests. For development phase, company will provide lots of trainings to you for improving your skill. For the production phase, you will undergo the same life cycle as oil and gas production phase. Company will give you the opportunities/trainings to overcome your low performance. They will fire you [ abandonment phase] once your performance affects the company profit.

Teeth Check Up

Today, I go to dental clinic for my third time teeth check up. Why do I need go to see dentist so frequent? This is due to side effect of my wisdom problem last time. My location of wisdom teeth that already pull it out last year were exactly looked like left hand side photo.

The residual foods used to trapped inside the gap between these two teeth. Hence, a hole was gradually being formed.

My doctor advised me that better pull the non-used wisdom teeth before the abandon of next teeth happening. So, I made my decision to perform these small operations last year to get rid of big hole to my next teeth. These small operations cost me RM 2,400 for both sides.

After recovered from operation, I need to spend additional money for filling to the small hole on next teeth. This filling was caused me felt pain because the hole is closed to gum and nerve. Can you imagine the painness during performing this filling? I am still remember this painness at this moment.

Doctor said my teeth hole was not easily for filling because of location that at the root position. Due to this position, the material was very difficultly to paste on it. So, I need to try the filling before applying alternative method of kill the nerve.

I was so happy with the check up result today because my filling is still being there even I was already did three times filling with different materials. My next teech check up was being schedule in October 2008. I will meet the dentist in coming October.

Sunway Lagoon

I was so excited because someone asked me out for one day trip of Sunway Lagoon. Let me self counted first, one, two, three, four.....This time is my fourth time to visit Sunway Lagoon; first and second time are with my family, the other is with my friends for free. HAha.....

I can say that every time visits will have different experiences. For instance, If you go with sporty friends, you will have more fun because they tend to try every games no matter how excited the game is. I have more fun this time because no so crowd even in weekend. I managed to play all the games without any long queue.

I can visit limestone structure exhibition at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. Limestone structure is an amaging natural thing created by god that needs thousands or millions of years to form. This exhibition can be said that is the large colection for it. I was so lucky have a chance to experience how amaging the natural creation.

I wish I could visit Sunway Lagoon next five years and manage to play whole the excited games. Haha........

Fever

Yesterday, I took half day leave because of fever. I felt that my whole body was not belong to me and very tired. My body temperature was being increased even I took panadol to relief it.

I used to having fever and cough together during my immunity failed to protect me from any diseases. But, this time I totally surrendered to fever. I was almost slept whole day and took panadol in order to get rid of this fever.

How come my body so weak? The only reason I was thinking is may be I be a blood donor last Sunday at Mid Valley. I ate lots of ice-creams last month and then my body weight was being increases. Hence, I need to donor 450ml blood. This is my third time to donor 450ml because I used to donor 350ml.

I am starting to control my weight in order to maintain optimum condition. SO, i will food fighting to maintain my weight to keep my body fit.

I was attending the " Talk on Instrumentation Systems on Offshore Facilities", conducted by IEM (The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia) in Petaling Jaya. I felt quite happy and excited because this is my first time to attend the IEM talk and accompanied by my colleagues. I was quite envy with my colleagues because they normally attending the outside courses with companions. It's not like me because I used to attend the outside courses alone.

Back to the talk again, this talk is focuses on instrumentation safety on offshore facilities. Basically, there are three main layer of protections on offshore to eliminate any hazards occur. Threre are basic process control, safety system (Alarm), and Fire/Gas system. The remaining is the auxiliary protection layers, such as plant emergency respond, and communiti emergency response. All these protection layers are independent.

The safety systems such as ESD, IPS, SIS, ASD,etc. will activate if the basic process control (Ditrubution Control System) is failed. The Fire & Gas system is a pasive system because only detects the fire and gas, not tends to fire fighting.

Conclusion, these three layer of protections are adequate to mitigate and reduce the hazards and risks on offshore.

I learnt lots of things this week.

Second day of SIL in office

The Risk Assessment Methods are introduced today. Basically, these Risk Assessment Methods can be divided into two categories; quantitative [LOPA, OLF, Fault tree, etc] and qualitative [ risk graph and risk matrix] methods. Each method has their own advantages and disadvantages.

LOPA[Layer of Protection Analysis] is a semi-quantitative risk analysis technique. It lies in between a HAZOP and a quantitative risk assessment (QRA) in terms of its rigorousness. This technique evaluates risks by orders of magnitude of the selected accident scenarios and builds on the information developed in qualitative hazard evaluation. This method is quite new and will use more frequent in future.

As a conclusion, i learnt the fundamental key terms for starting the SIS study to determine the SIL (Safety Integrity Level). High level of SIL means that more cost spend in audit, testing, and maintenance for mitigating the risks.

Fisrt day of SIL course in office

My company is having a SIL course in office for 2 days, which is conducted by one of our colleague. SIL is an acronym for Safety Integrity Level. It is normally to perform following by HAZOP study. Basically, the SIL is categories into 4 levels which is from SIL 1 to SIL 4., the later one gives the more safety reliable. In oil and gas industry, the SIL is only up to SIL 3. THE SIL 4 is mainly for air plane industry.

A lot of new key terms I was learnt today in order to proceed the second day course of risk approaches ( I guest because I forgot the name). There are SIS, SIF, IPL, PFD, Inherent safety, etc. The SIF is a single function whereas SIS is multifuction, For instance in oil and gas plant, existance of PSDs(Process Shut Down) and ESDs (Emergency Shut Down) are to ensure the process always operates within safety criteria to elimate any Hazard or loss occur. SIF is considers as a ESD or PSD, while the SIS is a combination of ESDs and PSDs.

IPL is an Independent Protection layer. Before we proceed to IPL, we need to clear about inherent safety. Inherent safety is a risk can be reduced by optimization, substitution, technology, reduction, and etc( i forgot) rather than the application of engineering and process control to eradicate the Hazard. In reality, inherent safety is never exists and we need many protetion layers such as alarm, instrumentation control, evacuate procedure etc (i forgot). IPL is an independent protection layer that fully independent and not rely on other protection layers. For instance, the basic process control equiped with trip setting is only considers 1 IPL rather than 2 (basic control + trip alarm) because these two are rely on each other.

The SIL course also mentioned the risk matrix. The risk is equals to consequency x frequency. The HAZOP study needs to perform to determine the consequency and causes before proceeds to SIL to calculate the risk. Risk matrix is an indication of risk [ Green =safe, yellow = moderate risk, and red = dangerous risk]. In general, there are 3 risks, which are process risk, targeted risk(i forgot) and residual risk. The process risk is the process with only basic control. After implementing trip settings/controls, the risk becomes targeted risk. Targeted risk is the minimum requirement of safety to eliminate any hazard. The residual risk is an actual safety we implemented in actual process. The SI to perform if there is a gap between targered risk and process risk.

Above explanation is based on my memory and understanding because I forgot to bring course's material home. If you want to further understand the SIL, I advise you search online or from book. 我又一次语无论次，哈哈哈。。。。。。

Farewell to my co-workers

Today is a sad day for my company and myself. I want to say farewell to my coworkers. It's not only one colleague, but are 3 colleagues; two will follow their husbands to Pearl or Beijing, and one is backs to his hometown(Norway). It's quite sad for me because our relationship is not easy to build up. However, I wish them have a good future and good luck. Maybe one day we will meet again because our world is getting smaller by having internet.

Tensions and Pressures

I've been working as a graduate process engineer at consultancy company for nearly 2 years (I rounded it). My main tasks are deal with clients and more on paper works. So, all my tensions and pressures were contributed by clients. There is no such a good luck for me having a good and pay more co-operation clients.Certain clients tent to keep their information as confidential as possible and then acxpected getting good quality results from consultants. As we well-known, good inputs definitely give good and more reliable results. I can't provide good results with limited information.

Some clients are very bigotry and can't accept any new ideals or suggestions. They retain their way even my supervisor already given his professional opinions and suggestion. As a conclusion, my supervisor has gave up of that client attitude.

Improving my skills on how to deal with clients is vital. Wish I will meet good clients next time. Wish me luck. hahaa...............

Election in 2008

This is my first time be a voter for our future country politic. I sacrified my time and money [ bus ticket to Mentakab] to fulfill my responsibility as a citizen for voting.
The voting process just took me less than 5 minutes and my vote will affect the future government's structure. The overall results for this time election is a bad dream for Barisan National. I think they will learn a lesson from these failures.
I wish our country will have a great improvement on safety issues for this new structure. Malaysia Boleh!!!!

I think this is a long time i never write my blog since 2008 new year. For this Chinese New Year, nothing much changed - Watching TV and movie, eating the rubbish food, gambling, went to temple etc.

After 5th day of CNY, the life back to normal, go to yoga class on Monday, Wednesday, Satursday, and Sunday.

At work, it's still the same - getting information from client, study it and then write the report.

No change is better than dramatically change, i mean disaster. Wish all of you dream come true.

ISO 90001

Recently, my company wills having second external management audit. The first external audit was conducted last year to get the ISO 90001 certificate. This time is a hard time because a lot of projects are not completed the quality properly from starting. Hence, we need to spend some time to complete all the required quality documents.

Actually, I don’t have such a good habit to maintain the document quality and control. Today, I’m just doing a very boring duty – complete all the P&ID check lists. Imagine you have 60 produced drawings and have another 3 revisions for each drawing respectively. That’s mean you need to do the 60 x 3 = 180 copies of drawing check list. I just quickly completed all the stupid stuffs until I forget how my signature is.

Oh, my god! How I’m going to sign off my credit card and withdrawn money from bank.

Fighting computer virus

I was helping my senior for searching some information about equation of state. During the searching online information, my computer had been attached by virus and I failed to delete it.
This virus was very strong and slow down my computer performance. The message of your computer was detected virus and you need to be installed recommended antivirus software always pop out. Then the installation message will appear and then will directly go to that website even you cancel the installation.
I tried to install AVG antivirus and anti-spyway, but still failed to cure it because that virus slow down the computer performance and make my computer very hang. I already fed up to see this appearance of this kind of messages. I asked the technician guy to help me to cure this virus.
Lucky, that virus was successfully cure and my computer not need to be formatted. This lesson teaches me about don’t be simply install unknown software (some kind of active control panel).

Year 2007 Reviews

There are many first time experiences happened in year 2007. My first time experience of taking airplane to Kota Bharu, Singapore, and Phucket by MAS, Singapore Airline and Air Asia respectively.
I used to have fever problem caused by wisdom tooth. Finally, I made my decision to pull 4 wisdom teeth out. I did 2 operations for removing wisdom tooth within one month. I went for specialist to perform those operations and RM 2,400 was spent. The operation results are quite good, there is no pain at all and I just can’t widely open my month. I still can eat and talk as usual after the operations.
I start to concern my fitness and health by joining yoga class where just near my housing area. After 4 months joining, I found that my weight is still remains the same and no impact on my body shape. However, I will assume this exercise as hobby and keep to attend the yoga class.
My wishes in year 2008 are get promotion for my career, more confidence in any fields, and improving my English language. I went to Sungai Wang for countdown and watching firework. I think this is the last countdown activity I joined. Wish all of you Happy New Year.

Money,Money, and Money......

I noticed that living cost in Kuala Lumpur is quite high and not everyone can afford the high inflation. There is another 1 day left for coming year 2008. Suspecting the petrol price will be increased [some news indicated the increase price will be RM 0.70 per litter]. The increasing price on petrol will give a big impact to everyone even you aren’t car user. All the fields [household, food, transport, and etc industries] will find certain reasons to increase the price. Hence, the most sufferable person is consumers (our). The worst thing is our salary is disproportional to inflation rate.

My advices to defend the high inflation are being a smart consumer. This is very important because you will think careful before making decisions on buying goods. This solution will save you a lot of money and indirectly helping to save our earth because reducing the rubbishes loading. Based on the latest news form scientists, our earth can survive another 14 years (I forgot the exact number) if we continue our bad habits on environment.

Let's start to be a smart consumer today. The new RM 50 image will be issued next year. Its background will be changed from oil and gas offshore platform to palm plantation. It’s means that our country will be converted to new era, which is bio-diesel industry. I wish bio-diesel industry in Malaysia will has huge progress in the next 10 years. After ten years onward, the diesel will be fully replaced by bio-diesel. Then, I will become unemployed because I am working in oil and gas field currently. Haha…………. A bit conflict

Singapore trip

Dec 13 - 16

I supported planning to visit Singapore last year. Unfortunately, i can't make it because of accident arised on Malaysia Independent Day (31/8/06). Then I rescheduled my planning to this year. Year......Finally can make it.

I departed alone from KL to Singapore by KTM. My mom so care and love me and she brought me the bed seat. My another two hometown mates were departed from Mentakab and will be reached there around 12pm. What the hell, my train will be arrived at 8am.What I support to do, had to wait them.

In general, my purpose of this trip is to visit Singapore and shopping. Purcharging some new year clothes in Singapore is my main purpose. For visiting, I have went to night safari, china town, Sentosa, sound of music, and underwater world......

This visiting gives me very dissapointed because of folowing reasons. First, there is nothing interested point at China Town. It only sells the Chinese Traditional stuffes and all the stalls sell the same things. It seem like Petaling street in KL. Second. The underwater world is not as same as my thinking. I thought that is very big and occupied a lot of species of fished and the shark must be very big size. My friend told me that even KL convention center aquaria is better than it. Sentosa?? I don't want to discuss it. Damp bad.

I think I wouldn't be visited Singapore again unless company/ business trip.
